Gibson Football Club
Facilities
Our clubrooms are on Starr St, Gibson, 25km north of Esperance. During Summer the facilities are used by the local cricket team, and during winter our training and home games are played here. Our clubrooms have visitors, umpires and home team change rooms with hot showers available. We are a family oriented club, with male and female toilets as well as baby changing facilities and a children's playground. During the football season we have a well-stocked bar and kitchen.
Football
The football season starts on Anzac day and finishes with the grand final in September. The other teams in the Esperance District Football Association are Newtown-Condingup, Esperance and Ports. Pre-season training starts one to two months before the first game. Combined taining for senior reserves and league is on two nights a week, followed by a Sunday game or occasionally a Saturday night game in town. The Sunday games start at 12:30pm (Reserves), followed by the League game at 2pm.
We participate in football carnivals out of the Esperance Area. We provide representatives on behalf of the Esperance District Football League, to attend the Landmark Country Championships, and the Great Southern Colts Carnival.
Club Participation
New and old players and supporters are always welcome to our club. Anyone interested in playing or supporting should contact our President, Vice President or League Coach. Membership is available to all. Parents of children who are interested in playing should contact the Junior president. For details of upcoming starting dates, training sessions, or events, contact a committee member or look for the Tiger Tales column in the Esperance Express on Fridays during the season.
During the football season key Gibson players and committee members are invited onto the local football show at 10am on Radiowest (747 AM). Local football issues and that weekend's games will be discussed. This segment is rotated around the local clubs. Look for a mention in the Tiger Tales for the Gibson members.
Gibson number plates are available for our supporters to purchase for their vehicles.
Events
We may have up to 8 home games a year. This will vary depending on the final fixtures. During the day lunch, soft drinks and snacks are available. Dinner is also available after the game and the awards ceremony. Microwave ovens are available for mothers needing to heat up baby food.
Our annual fundraiser is our shearing day, held in July. Our AGM is in August. During October we hold our annual windup, for the award ceremony and dinner.
